We wrapped up the latest Growler yesterday and it will be handed off tomorrow. This one is the culmination of a lot of ideas thrown around between me and Dan F. @thrashhax after he played the green spruce top Growler a year or so back. We talked about making something similar to an arch top but with my own twist. We use a sanding dish that would normally be used the shape of the back of an acoustic guitar. So this top has a 15′ radius to it which feels really nice under the forearm, much like a carved top guitar. We glued the Alaskan Yellow Cedar top to the Mahogany core in the dish after radiusing the core, clambering and cutting the f holes in the top. Quite a process but I love the results. Electronics wise, there are Series/Split/Parallel switches for each pickup, giving 3 separate sounds per Humbucker, made by the great @geminipickups, and all the sounds in between when they are combined making 13 tonal options I believe. Mahogany neck and body, Ebony fretboard and headcap. Ivoroid binding, Mojoaxe compensated wraparound bridge and Gotoh tuners, all with aged finish. The inlays were done by our friend Will @seedersinstruments. Satin lacquer, no color or stain added to the top or body. 6.4lbs all said and done.
