On Saturday October 12th I’ll be taking part in a panel discussion about instrument making at the Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, MA. I’ll have a couple of guitars on hand and a ton of photos to share about my work in lutherie. I hope you can join me, Will Seeders, and Nathaniel Rowan at this event. It’s at 3:30pm and will be followed by an open old-time music session.

From Hancock Shaker Village: Lutherie, the art of creating stringed wooden instruments by hand, is a centuries-old practice steeped in tradition. This conversation draws together a new generation of luthiers—Trevor Healy (guitar maker, Easthampton, MA), Nathaniel Rowan (violin maker, Putney, VT), and William Seeders Mosheim (banjo maker, Dorset, VT)—three makers whose work honors and challenges tradition, ultimately pushing the craft forward. Following brief individual presentations, curator Sarah Margolis-Pineo will moderate a conversation with all three luthiers.

At 5 pm, we invite players and music lovers to join in on an old-time music jam, open to all skill levels.

“Makers & Shakers: The Luthier’s Craft” is organized in conjunction with the current exhibition, While Mighty Thunders Roll: Popular Artists Sing the Shakers, on view through November 11, 2019.

Healy Guitars is Going to The Sonore Festival

September 18, 2018 in Announcements

We’re honored to have been selected to participate in the second annual Sonore Festival in Montreal, Canada. There are many great acoustic and electric guitar luthiers presenting their work, and several amp and pedal makers as well. It will be a great showcase for up and coming builders to show their work along side more established luthiers . We’re bringing three instruments made specifically for the festival which you’ll be able to try throughout the weekend.

Join us this weekend, September 21st to 23rd at the Agora Hydro-Québec (175 Avenue du Président-Kennedy, Montreal, Qc, H2X 3X8).
